As a Chef at Hurworth House School you will take full responsibility of the catering operation, you will undertake the planning, preparation and cooking of meals, research and create new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality and compliment healthy eating guidelines. This will include ensuring the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products, check/reconcile deliveries and minimise wastage.

Hurworth House School is a SEMH specialist provision working with children and young people from the age of 5 – 19 years. It is an expanding school which has a bespoke primary provision and is continuing to develop. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an environment which provides a blended academic and therapeutic approach. A Level 3 qualification or equivalent is an essential requirement, as well as previous experience preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment along with the following characteristics:
Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation –You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
Attentive – No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
