Deputy Headteacher

Full time permanent position 40 hours per week

Salary of £31,168 – £40,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

We are looking to recruit an exceptional candidate to the role of Deputy Head teacher to join and lead our team at Teesvalley College.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy dealing with parents, colleagues, members of the public and of course our pupils. You will need to be computer literate and able to deal with sensitive and confidential information effectively. You will need to be confident working on your own, and be self-motivated. As Deputy Head you will need to have knowledge and understanding of Teaching, Learning and Assessment, and it is vital that you have curriculum experience within Ofsted and other regulatory bodies.

The successful candidate will have a friendly and welcoming disposition, excellent communication skills, outstanding administrative skills and a flexible and pro-active attitude.

The post is to start as soon as possible and is permanent position, term time only.

The successful candidate, with the direction and support from the Head teacher:

Be an active participant of the school leadership team

Lead by example, holding and articulating clear values and moral purpose, and focusing on providing excellent education for all pupils

Assist the Head teacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school

Assist the Head teacher in the day to day organisation and management of the school

Support and/or represent the Head teacher at meetings as and when required

Deputise for the Head teacher in their absence from the school. A deputy Head teacher must undertake their professional duties to the extent required by the Head teacher.

Undertake the normal responsibilities of a class teacher

Undertake such duties as are delegated by the Head teacher

Be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement

Manage staff and resources

Play a major role, under the overall direction of the Head teacher, in formulating, implementing and reviewing the School Development Plan.

Deputy Designated Safeguarding lead

What we are looking for:

A relevant level 4 teaching qualification and/or experience of leadership and management in a school. QTS or QTLS would be advantageous

Minimum 5 years teaching experience

School leadership experience would be advantageous

Experience of working in a AP and/or SEMH school with children who have learning difficulties and can display severe challenging behaviour

Experience of working with Microsoft packages and other MIS packages

Report and data production

Experience of prioritising workloads, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities

A genuine interest in young people and their learning

The ability to communicate confidently and a variety of levels

Flexibility and a sense of humour

The ability to articulate the vision and values of the School

Safeguarding champion
