If you’re part of the Environment Agency (EA), you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation. Such broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams. Together, we’ll promote sustainable growth, tackle climate change and secure a better future for everyone.
Your role with us
From Hinkley Point C to the Lower Thames Crossing, we provide specialist advice on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). Joining our national team of permitting officers, you’ll work across the interface between planning and permitting, providing statutory advice and helping to accelerate key infrastructure while protecting the environment. In particular, you will offer ongoing training and support to permitting officers in relation to national infrastructure projects and be the central point of contact for permit enquiries from area planning officers. You will also support technical experts in making group decisions at pace.
What do I need?
You will have a good understanding of the NSIP planning process and be able to convey complex information to others in a training context. While permitting knowledge would be helpful, you will be supported by a team of senior permitting officers. You must be well organised and able to learn and adapt to new working practices easily. You will need:
Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations
An ability to take decisions, solve problems and achieve results
Good communication, relationship-building and team-working skills
Skills in influencing others and facilitating collective decision-making
