Wharton Construction is a Darlington based Main Contractor that operates within the north east of England and on project values of up to £5m.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team and progress into a senior position within our company. You will work on a mix of commercial projects and be an integral part of the management team, working alongside Site Managers and Contracts Managers to deliver high quality and profitable projects.

The role will predominantly be office based with regular visits to construction sites.

Job Objectives

• Managing the financial aspects of projects to include valuations, subcontract orders and payments, pricing and agreement of variations.
• Becoming a key component of the business and integrating in to project teams in a friendly and professional manner.
• Negotiating supply chain orders.
• Evaluating supplier payment applications and issuing of payment certificates.
• Providing accurate monthly cost reports.
• Pro-actively monitoring and managing cost variance and contract cash flow, and ensuring that applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
• Engaging with projects to add value through buildability, efficiencies and cost saving ideas.
• Ensuring that client and subcontract final accounts are agreed fairly and quickly.
• Taking off quantities from drawings and experience of Conquest estimating software preferable.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts (particularly JCT D&B, Minor Works, Intermediate Works).

• Pricing.
• Reporting.
• People management.
• 10+ years of Quantity Surveying experience at a similar level.
