Nigel Wright Supply Chain and Procurement are delighted to be supporting a growing Manufacturer to recruit a NEW Senior Buyer position to support continuous growth and operational investment in the business.
The Opportunity
Working within a small team, the Senior Buyer will report into a Purchasing Manager, you will have responsibility for Direct Materials’ procurement for multiple UK sites.
Management of a complex portfolio of direct materials and commodities – global supplier base
Devising and implementing commodity/supplier strategy
Negotiating new contracts/managing existing supplier performance
Managing and mentoring one team member
Working closely with key internal stakeholders – supporting Operations, Finance etc
About You
The successful Senior Buyer will have/be:
Proven Directs procurement experience and knowledge/exposure to commodity management and commodity markets desirable
CIPS/part-CIPS qualified preferred
Confident negotiator and dynamic communicator – comfortable with supplier interactions/liaising with internal stakeholders
Strong communication and influencing skills
Excellent SRM and negotiation skills, proven track record in managing direct materials’ strategy
Commercially minded with an understanding of commodity markets/influence
Self-motivated, proactive self-starter, continuous-improvement-focused
Amiable, flexible team player
People management skills beneficial
Values-driven – open, transparent
